Messianic Prophecy
What does the Old Testament say about the messiah? This is by no means a full list, (a more comprehensive list can be found here) but here are six categories of statements made hundreds of years before Jesus was born.
HIS ANCESTRY
He would be from the line of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the tribe of Judah, the family of Jesse and his son David.

HIS BIRTH
He would be born of a virgin in Bethlehem and worshiped by kings.

HIS MINISTRY
His way would be prepared by one crying in the wilderness, He would speak in parables, the Spirit of God would be upon Him, He would live in Galilee, He would be a light to the world, the Holy One who would be despised.

HIS MIRACLES
He would heal the blind, deaf, mute, and lame.

HIS DEATH
He would ride on a donkey bringing salvation. He would be spat on, struck and scourged. Silent when accused. His hands and feet would be pierced. He would be given vinegar to drink. Men would divide his garments and gamble for His clothes. None of His bones would be broken. He would die with transgressors.

HIS RESURRECTION
He would be resurrected without decay. He would reign in His kingdom forever.
